中文1. The foreign teacher must first meet with our agent to collect a letter from Guru English and use it to apply for a criminal background check at the police station. This process usually takes around 2 weeks to 1 month. The police will then send the result back to the school so it can be included with the other documents required for the work permit application through the Ministry of Education.
2. You will need to have formal ID photos taken wearing a suit and tie, with a white background. Most photo shops in Thailand can digitally add a suit and tie to your photo, but you should tell the photographer before taking the pictures. You will need:
• 2-inch photos: 6 copies
• 1.5-inch photos: 6 copies
I recommend ordering one dozen of each size, as you may need additional photos for other documents. The extra cost is very small—for example, 6 photos may cost around 100 THB, while 12 photos may cost around 120 THB.
3. The agent will also ask you to complete and sign some personal background information forms. You will also need to provide your rental agreement and TM30 document from your landlord. If you do not have these yet, you can submit them later.
4. You will need to make copies of every page of your passport, including blank pages, and sign each copy to certify that it is a true copy.
5. You will need to sign an employment contract with the school.
6. Once all the required documents are ready, the agent will compile everything and submit the application to the Ministry of Education.
The entire process usually takes approximately 2 months before we receive the approval documents from the Ministry of Education.
Once you have received the official approval documents from the Ministry of Education,
After that, you will need to scan all the required documents and send them to the Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad that you informed the agent about during your first meeting. You will then make an appointment to submit your passport and apply for a Non-Immigrant B (Non-B) Visa.
Once you receive your 3-month Non-B Visa, you must inform the agent of the exact date you will return to Thailand, as your arrival must be reported to Immigration within 24 hours.
During this period, the agent will continue submitting the required documents for another stage of approval with the Ministry of Education, which normally takes approximately 1 month.
Once the approval documents are issued, the agent will submit them, together with your employment contract and other required documents, to the Department of Employment. The agent will then arrange an appointment for you to bring your passport and complete the process to receive your work permit.
After your work permit has been issued, the agent will accompany you to Immigration to complete the process for your one-year extension of stay based on your employment/work permit.
Every 90 days, you will need to report to the Immigration Office.
The agent will prepare and submit the required documents to the Ministry of Education approximately every 60 days, as it usually takes around one month to receive the official confirmation that you are still employed by Guru English. These documents will then be prepared for your Immigration appointment.
For this process, you do not need to prepare anything yourself. You simply wait for the documents from the agent and make sure you report to the Immigration Office on time.
At Immigration, you will only need to pay the official fee of 1,900 THB.

The first year of obtaining a work visa and work permit can be quite complicated, but from the second year onward, the renewal process is much easier for foreign teachers. The agent will handle the necessary paperwork, so you will not need to worry about the process.
Before your first-year permission expires, the agent will arrange the renewal process. You will need to complete the required steps with the relevant authorities to extend your work authorization for another year, including the work permit renewal fee (approximately 3,100 THB), and then extend your permission to stay at the Immigration Office (approximately 1,900 THB).
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Re-Entry Permit
Once you have your work permit and your one-year extension of stay, I strongly recommend obtaining a Multiple Re-Entry Permit at the Immigration Office as soon as possible.
Why is this important?
1. If you travel abroad or return to your home country without a valid re-entry permit, your current permission to stay may be cancelled when you leave Thailand. When you return, you may be admitted under a different immigration status, which could mean having to go through significant parts of the visa/work authorization process again.
2. It is much more convenient to arrange the Multiple Re-Entry Permit at the same time as your immigration extension, rather than making another appointment or waiting in another long queue later.
3. A Multiple Re-Entry Permit generally allows you to leave and re-enter Thailand multiple times while preserving your current permission to stay, until the permit or underlying permission to stay expires.
In short: once everything is approved in your first year, the following years are much simpler because the agent will take care of the paperwork and guide you through each renewal.
